On free fishing day we all went out. Talon and I just sat on the rocks at the edge of the water and dropped in a line with a pink marshmallow just about 2 feet out. unexpectedly he caught about 10 baby fish!! they were so small and cute and we just kept catching them and letting them go. There has never been a happier boy in the world:)

So yes on sunday march 29 my kids answered a knock and look who it was! Mandee Nelson (Herzog) unexpectedly was driving through Blanding and after asking several people finally found me!! I was so shocked and happy that she would have taken the time to do it! It was great to catch up! I'm sure we will keep in touch! Good to see you Mandee!

By accident the girls wore the same shirt to school one day! I didn't even notice myself until they got home. I was excited and they were annoyed!

We had some spare time and did the girls hair all up in curls! They looked so pretty!

So we went to samarai 21 and Talon needed to go outside to see the fountain and I got some cute pics of him.

I think that is Billy's and my favorite part about this trip is eating all the good food at good restaurants. Cassie and Ryans dutch oven was extremely good too though! Anyone who is going to be there for easter would be missing out if they didn't request it! Abby came and ate with us that night and then we never saw her again. (If you read this abby, feel guilty!)

So the last night we were there we all went to red robin and on the way there davis was mad and complaining that he didn't want to eat at "Little red riding hoods" I assured him that the poridge and beanstalks they served would be great! He liked it.

On the drive there I followed Cassie. I'm not extremely comfortable driving in St George and I don't want to get lost. So as we turn into red robin we realize we were in the far left turning lane and needed to move over to beable to turn into the parking lot so Cassie is blinkering and trying to move over and I am just following and a little stressed when someone behind us starts blaring their horn and they won't stop! I flipped out! I almost hyperventilated! I didn't know what to do or where to go to get out of the way!

Then the kids turned around and guess who it was...Josh and Michelle! My kids have decided that everything is more fun with Josh!

Here is Talon Boxing the bubbles! It was so funny to watch him punch the bubbles with his fist to pop them!

Anyone need a new root boost? I got my hair done and it was sooo funny we used matrix and we couldn't get my hair to go down!!

Ethan and Talon got along well! We had a few fights over toys as expected and we had lots of fun! Like when we heard the clacking and banging and found them busting tile up with hammers. Or when we found the bucket full of rocks.

Billy won a Wii! He called me early in the day and said he was done with classes and he was going to shop for a PDA. So a few hours passed and we met him back at the hotel and the first thing the kids saw was the wii. They were so excited and I was so mad. I was sure He had bought it while he was out shopping at the electronics stores! But he finally convinced me.

This is a funny story! We headed out toward Hurricane Monday to try to find a fault line and some Spanish History that Billy's buddy at work told him about. We were headed in the right direction past the fair grounds, shooting range, and to the dump, only to find that since his friend had been there they had blocked everything off with restricted fence lines. Dissapointed we turned around and headed back...only to find that we had been locked in!!!! We thought we were the only ones out there but I guess not! We were in the middle of nowhere, what were we going to do? We decided to cut it but then we noticed a big sign that said "do not cut chain" While we adults panicked Mercedeez saw a sign that read "Locked in? Call this number" apparently this is a common occurence! So we called and after the man took our name and swore us to secrecy he gave us the combination to the lock. That was funny! After we got out we decided we better just go to the dinosaur museum!

Davis had a patriotic program this week for George Washingtons birthday. It was way cute!

He also started wrestling! He had a duel last night and did very well! He won his first match by 10 pts then wrestled someone whos middle name must have been angry! Angry never pinned him but he did win.

We had to go to cortez last weekend for mercedeez volleyball tournament and Brandy and I decided we could split a hotel room and go have some fun. Here is (L-R) Lacey, Kayla and cedz having fun on the drive over!

Here they are at the jacuzzi eating pizza! Brandy and I got hungry before the girls did (they just didn't want to do anything but swim) so we went ahead and ate at the mexican restaurant and left them to swim with Brandy's parents. We ordered them pizza when we were almost done eating but the delivery guy was faster than us and the girls all pulled out their money and paid for it. They thought they were very grown up!

Mercedeez did awesome at the tounament!! Her serves are esspecially good. They played around 6 or 7 games, each girl getting the opportunity to serve 2-3 times per game, and mercedeez got them all over but 3. Many of them going down as an ace. She is a talented server for her age! Best of all she really enjoys herself and feels good when she plays. Go Mercedeez!

Ok I added a new song on the playlist. Let me tell you why. I went to the dollar store one day to get cello bags and noticed some christmas cd's for 2.50. They had the greats on them like Bing Crosby, mormon tabernacle choir, Nat King Cole, and Louis Armstrong to name a couple! So I bought a couple and turned them on as soon as I got home. The first song was the one you should be hearing right now.
Way later that night at bedtime Talon was crying and frustrated and he just kept asking for "his santa claus" Billy and I could not figure out what he wanted and finally he fell asleep.
The next morning Talon and I went and got in the car to run some errands and I brought the christmas cd with me to play in the car. It turned on and Talon started yelling! "My santa claus my santa claus!" That is what he had wanted the night before! He loves this song by Louis Armstrong isn't that funny! He still requests it all the time!

Ok we didn't fall off the face of the earth. I know it has been too long since I updated, I guess I have some explaining to do.
You see I don't really update very often as it is and this fall when school started I slacked big time! And then in October on my way home from getting some great pictures in all the leaves at the church with the kids my camera fell out of my jogger without me realizing. Later that evening I ran an errand and as I was pulling back into the driveway I saw what looked like a smashed camera in the road...it kinda looked like my camera, only smashed. It was my camera!

So I have no Thanksgiving pics, no christmas pics, but I will finally blog these from this fall, is that ok?? I'm pretty sure I will have a new camera soon. I doubt billy can wait much longer to get a new scope for his new gun and when he does....

Davis had a Halo 3 party! If you don't play halo you won't appreciate this cake. I think I did a good job.

We also took a couple of his friends with us to Cortez for a day! Everyone took a turn wearing the sombrero!

Ok I know I should have some christmas ones up but like I said I'm just catching up. We had tons of fun carving pumpkins together and everyones turned out unique and wonderful.

Talon loved the pumpkins until the lights went out and he saw them all lit! Then he was scared.

We calmed him and told him not to worry that we just wanted a picture of them and to this day when he sees a pumpkin he says "take a picture!"

Petting the stingrays

This was the coolest part of our trip! There is a small Aquarium (I think it was in west jordan) my kids loved it! Especially petting the stingrays. Even I liked that!

We made sure we found time to walk around Temple Square with the kids. We enjoyed that alot! By the way I think this is the only picture I'm in cause some one offered to take it for us! How funny huh!
So here goes alot of pictures from our trip! You may have to turn the page to see them all! We really had a nice time visiting all the family and everyone took good care of us! Some days we ate 3 lunches and 2 dinners but it was all delicious and worth eating! I never got any pictures of Billy playing ball - they all turned out blurry but he did very well!

We had alot of fun even in the car on the way to winnemucca! Nice bubble davis!!
Mercedeez and billy were being goof balls in round table pizza in Elko. My silly kids are definately Mendoza's!!

We stopped in Green River at Ray's Tavern to eat a burger that was said to be one of the four best burgers in the western US. It was pretty good and pretty interesting too!

The morning we were heading home we went to breakfast with Robert and Stefanie and thier kids. Some of you will recognize stefanie who used to babysit kylie kelly and lindsey.
Mercedeez was pretty proud of the giant jerky she got for a treat on the drive home!
We took abby to dinner with us at the mayan that night when we got back to Salt Lake. It was such good food!! And we were there for a show so it was awesome! I had some pics of the divers but they were coming out too dark when I tried to post them.

This year for the first time I decided I should store some of my fruit instead of just eating them all. I myself am completely clueless about how to bottle things so I asked Jenny if she would teach me how to make jam in exchange for half of my cherries. She said she would so the week after the 4th I started picking my fruit. The first day I picked for 3 hours and filled a big blue tub full of cherries. I thought it would be smart to fill the tub with water and save me having to rinse them later... anyone who cans is saying "oh no" in thier head right now. I got busy and left the cherries, went to billy's double header fast pitch game in monticello and when we got home at 11:00 pm I had forgotten about them. The next morning I went out to pick some more. I found them rotten!! The whole tub foamy and brown and stinky! I called debbie so mad and on the verge of tears. I wasted all that food that could have become a part of my food storage. I picked the rest of my tree that day and filled the tub one more time. I didn't put them in water and I took them imediately inside. I was sure that now I had barely enough cherries for my jam. The next day I went up to Jenny's and we began. We made 7 batches of jam and still hadn't used them all! I was there for 5 hours! Needless to say I learned alot! I called Debbie today and told her that I decided it was a tender mercy from Heavenly Father that half my cherries had spoiled!!

Summer Days...

My kids are so cool. Apparently they are even too cool to do chores these days.
So I have a really funny story. Although it wasn't funny to me until yesterday when I went to lunch with a couple of my friends and Camille asked me if my summer was calming down yet. I heard that question and I was immediately taken back to the events of the day before. Good thing I can laugh at myself...
Anyone who knows me knows that my math is simple, clean house= happy, unorganized house=grumpy & irrational. You would think that by now my kids would know this about me and do their part. But they must have acquired a convenient case of amnesia this summer!
Of the then 45 days that my children had been on summer vacation I was having a hard time remembering a single day that it had taken them less than 6 hours to complete their daily chores. I don't allow them to play, or go swimming, or even go visit grandma mendoza who is in town, until their responsibilities are taken care of and I will tell you that we were having a very boring summer! This was getting on my nerves!! Even a boring mom needs out of the house some times!
So I presented the question to my kids. "Can you guys think of a day that it didn't take you 6 hours to finish your chores? And when you did finish you hadn't cheated on it at all?" They all thought for a minute and then mercedeez said that she could think of 3 days.
She was very proud of herself and so I got out the calendar and we counted how many days of summer there had been. Her voice lowered and her head went down and she said "ohhh".
And that is when my fit began. I moved briskly through the house stomping, and cleaning, moving from room to room, lecturing the whole time. I still wasn't getting the response I wanted and so I did what any desperate mom would do... I assured them that they were all getting spankings when their dad got home!!
Soon Billy called from work and he heard an ear full from me for 20 min. straight. I assured him that I was not mad but that I had been pondering about it all day and decided that the kids needed spankings and that he needed to do it because if I did it it wouldn't hurt enough.
He was probably laughing at me inside and he kindly told me that he really didn't want to spank them but that yes they should have a punishment. "Let's ground them indefinitely" I said very seriously. He probably laughed inside again and he said he would take care of it when he got home. We hung up but I was not satisfied. I went out to the children and I told them they could have the choice of being grounded for 2 days or get spanked from dad. Our obviously naive children all picked spankings!!!! They are totally clueless to the legendary terror of the fathers spanking!! I heard them reasoning that the pain would go away but that they couldn't bear to be apart from their friends. I was a little disappointed.
They are, however, familiar to military discipline tactics!! When Billy got home he gave them the option to be grounded or do butts on the wall.... they ALL chose to be grounded!! ha ha

Here we are at the beginning of one of the most meaningful days of my life. I don't know how many of you have heard of the "run for the fallen". It was started by a group who had a friend who served and died in Iraq in 2005. They decided they wanted to do something not only for him but all the soldiers who had given their lives so they organized this run. They are running 1 mile for each who died. They started in California on Flag day, they ran through Blanding today and they will end in Arlington Virginia in August. Anyone who wants to be involved has been invited to organize a one mile run on thier last day wherever you are! Go to www.runforthefallen.org to get more info!!

Here comes one of thier runners they carry the flag the whole way. Next to her is a blanding local who met with them in Bluff and ran along side of them At each mile they stop and leave a flag and picture of a soldier (sorry I forgot to turn it how dumb) They go in order of death and who would have known that the flag for Quinn, who was from here would end up in between here and monticello! what a neat coincidence.(?)
The first runner handed off the flag and we followed behind the next. All of us who participated here in Blanding ran 2 miles for the 2 soldiers from our area Quinn and Nathan Winder. We will be organizing a mile run to show our support in August on the last day.

Here we are with our Elders Quorum cutting logs for a service project. We took the wood we gathered to a family in our ward who needed it! Our girls were so dedicated and tough. They found and carried lots of logs over for the Guys to cut. They were begging them to quit gathering!
Alot of teamwork got the job done quickly Our girls were good sports
The stake leaders informed us that we were not to help only cheer so we made pompoms and did a really good job at it. We are the "coolest" leaders in the stake if you ask me.
We were asked to get help from our elders quorum and to gather wood for a family. We had an hour and a half to do it and were required to at least fill two boxes... we were the only ones who invited our elders quorum and we simply stayed busy for the whole time and got 2 pickup trucks full!!! WE OWE A HUGE THANK YOU TO GRANDPA WHO LET US GATHER LOGS ON HIS LAND!!

The next song is one of my favorite I think I like it cause the guy sounds alot like Bonno haha. Billy loves Techno so the next one is for him. Then Davis all time favorite song "It ends tonight" is next followed by some from my girls favorite singer Taylor Swift. Then my extremely patriotic Mercedeez insisted we do "God Bless the USA" We all cry when we hear it...I guess patriotism was kind of thrust upon our family.

So here is Alexus newest bug ( Sorry no ictures of the trianchula shed). He is a BIG ugly spider that we found at our house. She put him in a container and cought a couple of flies that we got to watch it eat, it spun a web in the tupperware and then she decided it was time for it to die. I couldn't have agreed more! So she killed in with rubbing alcohol and she has been examining it ever since! I am actually really proud of all my kids. Yesterday they were all sitting around the table talking about what they want to be when they grow up as they disected the spider and played in all the first aid supplies we own, and they all three have very high aspirations. I hope they reach them!

Here is Billy coaching Davis though, if I might brag, he doesn't need it much!! This studly boy of mine (Davis not Billy) was SERIOUSLY one of the best on his team. Yes there were a few other players that played just as well as him but I should mention that they are in 2nd grade!!! (Davis is in Kindergarten for those who don't know) The coaches and other parents were very impressed. Billy told him that if he hit it up the middle he would buy him a milk shake. The coaches probably want to kick Billy's butt for that cause he did it twice and he hit his coach both times!! once in the head and once in the shoulder he made it to first base both times.

Mercedeez is chees'n it big! These massive wish makers grow in the field next to our house. The kids love them and they are sure that because they are so big that they really will make your wish come true!! I wished that when they blow them and they land allover my grass that they won't start to grow!! I won't hold my breath!

I wish billy was a better example but here he is jumping on the bed with Talon! That is Talon's favorite thing to do! Unfortunately someone gave me some bunk beds and now he can't jump anymore!! Not on his bed anyway.

These are the boys new bunk beds. They are just the classic old wood design that alot of us probably remember. Davis and I worked hard and sanded them down and painted them black. Davis was my motivation and he really was a big help! Nothing fancy but pretty cool eh.

I have been married almost 10 years (on July 18th! hooray for us!) and my fry bread has never turned out soft and yummy like I want. I used Grannys simple recipe from our books and some how I did it! It was soooo good.
Any one who wants a great recipe for WHOLE WHEAT bread, I have the recipe for you!! NO white flour (very healthy unlike frybread! haha) and it is very soft not heavy or dry! I got the recipe from Camille Ward who got it from someone who has spent YEARS attending conventions and whatever else about bread. I really think it is the best. So here it is!
You need 7 cups wheat flour 2/3 cup wheat gluten flour
2 1/2 TBL instant yeast 5 cups HOT water
Mix this for 1 Min. and let sit for 10 Min. Then add
2 TBL salt 2/3 cup oil 2/3 cup Honey 2 1/2 TBL lemon juice
Knead for 1 Min (always measure the oil first then when you measure the honey and pour it in it will just slide out)
Then add 5 cups Wheat flour 1CUP AT A TIME! Knead on OILED counter top (not floured) for 10 Min the dough will be soft and moist
Turn on oven to 350 for 1 min then turn off
divide dough into 4
Mold each piece and slam it onto the counter 5 times!
Put the molds into your oiled pan and place them in your warm oven for 20 min.
turn your oven back on to 350 and let them bake for 30 min!

So Debbie once mentioned that I should blog pictures of our remodeled home. So here are some pics though anyone who didn't see my house before probably won't appreciate it as much! It is pretty bare cause we don't have many furnishings yet but that is ok. We have couches in the basement but i didn't take pictures of it I guess I should we did a ton of work down there too!!
I wish we were done but we have the upstairs bathroom and the outside still to do...maybe next year we are tired!!

So here we are getting ready to start our summer tattoos. We use stencils to trace designs on ourselves with a sharpie and then by the time the marker fades all the skin around it has tanned. I guess it looks cool

Here is Mercedeez in her swimsuit!! her Roxy tattoo is big and noticable jus the way she wanted it
alexus is also in her swimsuit!! She chose the kitty paws with the word purrrr. She thinks she is cool

Here is the girls good friend nani. She chose somehting more of what I like these to be (though all are cute in thier own way) two little stars. I love it

So I know we are late joining in on this but my kids did thier versions of the little blue man- and heeere they are!!

First Mercedeez says that his whole body is blue even his clothes, he is 200 years old, he is 1 inch tall, which means he has grown quite well because he was only 1/2 inch when he was born!! And His birthday is everyday!

Davis says the little blue man is a dancer!!

Alexus says that he is a little blue chinese man!!

The other day I heard the outside water on and I just figured it was Davis
again, so I ignored it for a minute. But soon I dedided it was time for the
water to turn of so I went to tell Davis. Guess what it was Talon!! So I try to tell
Talon to turn it off and he was ignoring me so I started walking over to shut the
water off myself. By accident he sprayed me so I ran in the house screaming!
He picked up on that quick and started spraying me through the front door, so I
closed the door and started thinking.......

I peeked out the window and he saw me looking so he sprayed at me!! (He was laughing through this whole thing by the way) We couldn't open the front door cause every time we did he would just turn the nozzle in our direction my entry way was beginning to flood. We needed a plan and I thought of something I could make Davis do......
I sent him out the back door to sneak around and shut the water off before Talon noticed him. He got the water shut off but not without Talon noticing!! I appreciated his sacrifice!

Everyone has been waiting to see these pictures of our new family member Max Power. He is "trained" as alexus would say. He really is quite funny. He just sits and watches us we pet him and carry him around. He will walk but he won't hop. In these pictures he had climbed out of his home and onto lexi's plate. He moved around and ate lettuce and tomato juice.

Alexus was picking him up but he would not let go of his dinner!! That is his piece of lettuce.
